Act now, before the next mass shooting
We are sadly living in a very sick society. The fact that in 43 states, anyone can purchase an AR-15 assault rifle and walk into an elementary school and kill and hurt so many children and teachers is just incomprehensible to me.
Across the United States just seven states and the District of Columbia have imposed laws which ban guns classed as assault weapons. Those states are California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
The NRA has such a powerful hold on some people, it is just ridiculous. Congress needs to act now and not wait for the next mass shooting event to enact some life saving gun control laws.

Kids need to be safe in school
Proponents and opponents of gun control are going to continue arguing in the aftermath of the Uvalde, Texas school shooting. The gun control issue will take years to resolve if at all. Something however can be done immediately that does not involve the gun control controversy.
The governors of each state or the President could declare an emergency order to require every public school to have armed law enforcement officers on every public school campus. State legislatures and Congress at their next legislative sessions can then deal with funding. Requiring armed campus officers will cost a fortune in tax dollars.
But at this point, I am ready to pay higher taxes for the safety of one child and family spared from the horrific acts taking place in schools.
